  • Anyone know if Samsung Micro SD Cards are any good for Astell & Kern players?

I'm sure they're fine. I don't use any in mine but don't recall reading any specific specs in the manual,  maybe a max size. Check the pdf.

@spark240 you have a very good pair of headphones.  You probably have a computer too.  Rip your CDs to FLAC and store them on a computer drive.  Get a decent headphone amp and a good DAC, such as the JKCiunas with USB input.  Through that system you are only hearing the music, the reproduction quality is close to beyond improvement.  Everything you play through it will sound as good as it is possible to sound.  Spotify or any of the online music sources, while being low bitrate, will sound very good.  Better than most people think but, IMHO, not as good as the music on FLAC files.

Budget wise, you are looking at south of £1K.  Which is not far from what you headphones retail for.  In quality terms you will have an outstanding system for peanuts.  A system that will last you for many years.  On yer bike.....

As my iPod is on it's last legs I'm after a new non-Apple digital music player for £500 or less.

    Suggestions please
What's wrong with it? You can buy new hard drives, batteries and so forth quite in expensively. I have a second generation iPod still going strong.
the battery is done on it.  Mine is a 4th Generation iPod touch.
I've done plenty of battery replacements on various iPods, though the touch is a little trickier.

So it'd cost you £29 to get it fixed...

Yeah but.....a new music player for xmas.......
Has anyone used ipodrepairs.co.uk? I have 2 broken classics and have tried similar repair services with no luck. I think hard disk is gone on one, no idea what's wrong with the other.

  • I've used Square Repair in London to replace the headphone jack on a classic, they did a good job.

So it came...its smaller than I thought....screens size and text is tricky to read, and Im finding the on screen touch controls a little fiddly, Im trialing Deezer at the moment ( not Hi res yet) and it seems ok, Ive ripped a few tracks in Lossless to iTunes but I had to get Android file transfer for Mac to get them onto the AKSR15.

If you want super easy...Id stick with a basic music player and Spotify...

That said...I just listened to Tears for Fears Woman in chains on the AK with the Focal Pro clear cans....well...the detail is quite amazing...to my ears anyway....and Ive been trying to do detail for years !

Clearly, the price point of kit like this isn't nice...with the cans around £1200 and the AK around £500 ( and thats a budget Hi res player)...you got to be serious, and If I hadn't got the cans for free...I wouldn't be doing it at all.

But ...if you get chance...take a listen...you probably wont like going back.
