Collected this one yesterday - its had a neck repair but seems very stable, seller reckons Charlie Chandler did it.    Otherwise its in amazing conditon for its age.  Minihumbuckers are great - almost a hint of telecaster sound to them.     The neck is a little slimmer than I’d prefer but its very easy to play.

Gorgeous. Enjoy it, sure looks a great Lester. What year is it, original 70s or modern reissue?

    Somewhere between 71 and 73.

Just been playing it again - really like the clean and light crunch sounds - plenty of power and twang without sounding harsh or brittle - great for chord work and riffs.

  • I’ve got a wine coloured 1978 deluxe which I bought used in around 1981. Those mini humbuckers are quite bright sounding when compared to the full sized ones. My guitar is quite heavy, ( no chambering in those days), and the neck seems to be a three piece affair with a volute at the headstock. The paint on mine is transparent and you can see that the maple top is made of three pieces which was quite common on Les Pauls from that era. Enjoy your new guitar.

Thanks chaps.    It’s a cool guitar but as I posted in another thread I’m torn about whether I’ll get used to it as it is or if I should get it refretted to have bigger frets like my other guitars, or move it on.

It sounds fantastic though - I wasn’t expecting the pancake body and mini hums to have as much sustain.

I could easily get used to a guitar like that.

Very cool, Scott Gorham is one of my all time fav players - did alright with a deluxe!
Probably easier to not worry about the refret and just give it to me ;)
