Sorry if it’s a daft question but are they the original trem and scratchplate/pickups?

    Hi
Not sure what you’ve got here... Eric Johnson Strats usually have single ply scratchplate, vintage type saddles, 2tone Sunburst....Please excuse my ignorance and correct me if I’m wrong... B)

I had a sunburst EJ strat and it did not look anything like that (apart from the neck plate).

EJ Strats are usually a 2 tone sunburst too, not 3 tone.

Solid saddles, three-ply plate and three-tone sunburst aren’t right.....

I thought they were usually 2 tone but did some in 3 tone - is the wear in the body typical of a nitro finish?   I was curious about the 3 ply scratchplate and bridge though - is it possible that it’s an EJ neck and plate on a standard body?

Looks that way to me :-(

  • The bridge and pick guard were replaced by previous owner to more durable standards - everything else stock. And it’s 2-tone.

    Hi
Unless I the camera is hotting up the colours to the best of my knowledge the EJ Sunburst were two tone just the yellow base and  brown/black.  Not saying they did not make one but just scanned google images for EJ  Strat and could see nothing with that much red. I suppose it could be a custom order.

I would be happy to be corrected by knowledgeable Fender experts its a nice looking Strat either way.

My first thought was 'nope' but there's no string tree on the headstock and the body isn't drilled for a backplate as far as I can see. All features of a regular EJ.

  • Ok people I’m not a “scammer” have successfully bought and sold items on this site - didn’t realise this guitar would get such a forensic grilling. Bought the guitar legitmately from a friend 5 or 6 years ago. If the photos aren’t taken to the desired professional standard I apologise, it’s taken from a phone.

Spotted this too. Looks like full size trem block and EJ case.

@lerxstmusicman Might help your sale if you could get pics underneath the pick guard, neck pocket and bottom of neck.

EJ’s are really nice guitars and this is a crazy good price if it all checks out ok.

I don’t think it’s just the standard of the photos that is in question here. Lots of people use a phone for photos - it’s the spec of the guitar you are selling when compared to the EJ spec that has raised the questions. As said above hope it checks out and you get your sale.

If you take some outside in daylight it would probably help.

  • Gotta say at first I thought that was definitely not an EJ strat body. Like others I thought it was the wrong burst.

This picture looks to be two tone though. So maybe the flash on the phone camera is bringing out some red..

Either way I'd take some more pics in daylight like suggested.

Too many pickguard holes for an EJ strat , unless new holes were drilled when the guard was changed ..

  • Previous owner had changed 2 things when I took it off his hands:

    1) Saddles - his argument was the original saddles were prone to string breakage
    2) pick guard - the original pickguard is a tad flimsy on the EJ, so a more durable pickguard replaces it.

Everything else is stock and it is 2-tone.

With the greatest of respect, wouldn't it have been easier just to say all that important stuff in the initial sales post. Plus, it's the next day now, and I bet there are some (myself included) who are surprised you still haven't retaken, and posted some remotely passable photos yet, especially with the 2TSB/3TSB thing.

Just sayin <with the best intentions meant>... It'll help your sale.
