Is it just me or do the damage and the story not really line up?

I think that damage was someone's attempts to do something cool and now they're covering that with the studio fire story.

I’m inclined to agree, the damage looks quite selective. A mate of mine did a similar job on his bass using a blow torch.

It''s utter bollocks IMO. I wonder at what point  in the, ahem, "relicing" procedure the perpetrator realised that things were not going well, or perhaps he really thinks it looks awesome and super cool
