  • I love the look of Travis Bean guitars, I'd rather buy a house though. Why do they get these price tags?

The design is lovely, but I'm also interested as to why, but whoever tells us why is massive slag.

    Lets keep that mystery running...

I'd expect at least a £200 discount because of all the scratches on the back.

100 grand for a second hand guitar! they can do one.

  • Too much money but they do look cool, I like them but I’d imagine they’re not to everyone’s taste. Years ago I had an aluminium necked Kramer, always sorry that I parted with it, ( but it was in part ex for a 50s Gretsch Jet Firebird).

Never understood the fascination or the values. Heavy, the neck is cold to the touch, and toneless in my opinion.

If you want a heavy, toneless 1970s double-cutaway two-humbucker guitar, buy a Peavey T-60 and save yourself about £99,500.

  • I seem to remember some ‘name’ players mentioning tuning issues as the aluminium necks warmed up under stage lights in interviews I’ve read. They’re interesting curios - but rather like laminated wood through-necks, very much ‘of their time’.

Anyone paying those kind of prices should be certified....

  • That's a lot of dough for a Mr Bean guitar

Wow. I though the ones that go for £4-5k were expensive!

I’ve often wondered how they play. Yannis from Foals likes them:

    Noooooo.

It's a relic, and therefore worth much more.

What's a Travis bean? Is that like a magic bean?

They're so ugly I wouldn't pay 50 quid for them. Plus I had to google who Travis Bean is ;)

Well, if it was built for Gerry Garcia then that's worth the extra £98.5k.

I was looking at a 70s Kramer bass today, priced at £950; I'm sure it was £750 last time I went in, a couple of months ago.

I prefer the Travis Bickle guitar. Great guitar, but they have a habit of coming unglued.

If it really was a guitar built for Jerry then it has to have some added historical value. He never played it though.

No, still a bit expensive, 90 grand tops for a new one.

I love aluminium necks...and I wouldn’t even consider selling mine. But 100k for any guitar is a joke.
