Set up is spot on and there is no fret wear.

Condition wise it's immaculate apart from a small mark on body.

I'm really looking for trades or offers around £3k.

There's always one (with 5 frets) on the forum who has nothing to contribute but his opinion lol

  • So you thought you'd derail the thread.
Might be worth taking your 5 frets to a different forum but thanks for your comment.

Original masterbuilt strat, unsoldered, all paperwork correct including the traveler.

from a post by @guitars4you on this forum:

are they signed 'abby' or signed 'AB' -

'abby' are wound personally by her and these are the more desirable version
'ab' are wound by other staff under Abby's watchful eye - almost like an apprenticeship

    Thanks Brize.

So as per my post, they are Handsigned Abby Pups. She signed them.

A quick google and I do believe there are also a number of occasions where she also signed ab. But agree these could have been wound by an apprentice and then signed off personally by Abby.

  • In the 50s and 60s she signed some and also initialled some when she wound them...….but since rejoining Fender she put the full sig on the ones she wound personally and initialled the ones she watched over being wound, as Brize quoted.

  • Thought I would add the bio for Paul Waller - makes interesting reading and he's made guitars for some great people and bands.

    PAUL WALLER

Paul Waller is a Southern California native with woodworking and luthiery in his blood. He built his first guitar at age 14 in his high school woodshop, joined a cabinet shop right out of high school and, after a stint at a small Southern California guitar maker, enrolled at the acclaimed Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix, from which he graduated in spring of 2000.

Waller joined Fender in 2003. He spent two years working closely with master arch-top craftsman Bob Benedetto, and became steeped in the many facets of building techniques from all the Custom Shop’s Master Builders. After an extensive seven-year apprenticeship, Waller became a Master Builder in 2010.

His Fender Custom Shop work includes bass guitars for U2’s Adam Clayton, a custom Thinline Telecaster for U2 vocalist Bono, Telecaster guitars for the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards and co-work on a Stratocaster for fellow Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, Stratocaster guitars for Buddy Guy, the Nile Rodgers “Hitmaker” Stratocaster, and a custom double-neck Jazzmaster for Queens Of The Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen.

  • Regarding this Abby vs ay. pickups. I have early 1969 cs strat  circa 2001 which have ay pickups and they were wound by abigail ybbara as that was the whole selling point when the 69 cs strat came out.

So i would say there are ay pickups wound by abbey.
