You don’t need longer fingers, you just need to dislocate each joint :)
Just don’t do your elbow, that makes it worse...

is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is?

Congrats on your bass purchase OP, what amp are you playing it through?

  • Might look at saving my pennies for something like a Zoom B3 or some other similar bass effects/preamp kinda practice tool. Got some fun sounds out of @Legionreturns one in the past.
Nice, consider the Behringer DI too? £17
Yeah that looks stupidly cheap. Can't really go wrong at that price! Lacks the all-important 70s porn music Auto-Wah effect you can get from a multi-fx pedal though! =)

Erm, nothing at the minute! Tried it on the clean channel of my Blues Cube Artist with volume down low, just to check everything worked, but don't really know if it's a good idea to play bass through a guitar amp? Don't wanna do any damage to the speaker!

Any advice from part-time bass players on playing through a guitar amp?

It's fine at home volume. You would notice it starting to sound like it was struggling before there was any risk of damage, and it would be very loud.

Don't try it with a band though, it's much harder to hear the warning signs when there's other stuff going on.
