They are Gibson reissues mate. 

Stands for Gibson Les Paul Reissue 1958

R9s are 59 reissues, R7s 57 reissues, and R0s are 1960 reissues. 

Peach had a mega sale on these back in August, and some of us (myself very much included), had R8 fever for a good long while. Huge thread ensued with everything from gorgeous les paul pics, loads of NGDs, debate, puns and general hilarity.


Meanwhile, @Hattigol I miss it too!
 And I'm thinking @JerkMoans might be teasing  (crosses fingers he is not)

Absolutely possible, but how do you know the number of them - some inside info?
