Porters and Stouts

What's Hot

Now the weather is getting chilly I tend to go to the darkside and enjoy more porters and stouts.

So far my favourite is Five Points Railway Porter.

Bingham's Vanilla Stout and Sainsbury's Taste the Difference London Porter are both pretty decent too.

What are your favourites? Any recommendations?

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

    Don't know if it's a porter or a stout, but Old Peculier (lunatics broth) is a canny heavy beer.
    Tastes of chocolate and dark molasses (to me anyway). One pint makes me feel relaxed and happy. Two pints makes me truculent and aggressive!

    * Peculier

    “A Peculier is an ecclesiastical district, parish, chapel or church outside the jurisdiction of the bishop of the diocese in which it is situated.” - never knew that! I thought it was just a quirky spelling of peculiar.

    My beard isn't long and wispy enough and I gave my knitted cardigans to Oxfam so I'm not qualified to comment on such things !  ;)

    Great drink anyway, absolutely delicious with chips, ready salted crisps, etc.

    The Sainsbury's Tast The Difference one is excellent.
    Guinness Foreign Extra in 330ml bottles- make sure this is NOT the Nigerian stuff (which is horrible IMO), but brewed in Ireland and superb - as is their 'West Indian' porter.
    Stouts and porters seem to be up and coming now in the craft beer world...

    Tiny Rebel Stay Puft is a recent favourite - made with marshmallows!

    There's a great beer shop near me and I picked up a few cans of Imperial Porter type stuff recently. Can't remember what they were called, but they are in my fridge!
