Complete con in my mind for those who simply have more money than sense. 

Over the years I have seen a good few bits of of beautifully quilted mahogany or rippled. Its not common but acoustic builders have used it for fine instruments. Then along came the story of the tree and the struggle to recover it blah blah blah. 

Also in my mind it does look great on a serious acoustis back and sides but frankly slapping it on a single cut  is a total waste of wood that could of made a stella acoustic. Rather than tart up an electric, it will have little tonal impact over a standard piece of mahogany.
