Haven't seen joes pedals before - are they a good place to buy?

Yep. That's where I got my KTR. Shipped fast and all above board.

Have also given custom to Northern Stomps, I guess he's not a dealer but recommend him anyway for other stuff if you need it. :)

The ktr is great but imo the ryra and the ceriatone centura are better but it’s down to personal taste.

Joes pedals are new unless they are in the used section but I can see it’s not obvious if you follow a link rather than go from the shop front page.

  • New pedals (unless in theused section) at Joes and great place to shop.

Best klone, imho, is the RYRA

Was about to say I really love it. Good choice. Good klones are more about nuances than anything, and there are lots of them, but the name-brand version in this case is still extremely strong.

Tbh you’ll find the nuance you’re talking about between 2 different klons, tumnus, golden eagles or ryra klones.  Due to parts tolerances (pots are +20%) most pedals of the same model will sound a little different if you A/B them.

Yeah I don’t stock the KTR, although I kinda wish I did! I do stock the Fredric Effects Goldeneye Eagle which is about as close as you can get though!

    You're not wrong.

I once made a couple of P.E. Experience clones for two guys who were buddies. I decided to make sure the transistors at each position had exactly the same gain on each pedal, seeing as they were likely to be played side by side. I wanted the pedals to be as identical soundwise as possible. I did the same with the clipping diodes. The pedals didn't sound identical, with one having a slightly better swell effect than the other. Given that the resistors were 1% metal films, it can only have been the tolerances of the pots and capacitors.

Any 1:1 clone of the Centaur/KTR will sound as close as any two of the originals might. You're basically choosing on price/size/colour scheme.
My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.
    I said maybe.....
