The news this morning... SHOCK HORROR... Vandals have scrawled graffiti on and taken “beautiful” stones from the recently uncovered buildings in Ladybower reservoir.
Er... you’re getting indignant that this has happened to a village that was a) compulsorily abandoned and b) largely demolished before c) being submerged under 100ft of water and even d) had bits blown up with explosives afterwards (Derwent clock tower).
Oh... but the vandals !!!

I feel offended.
I’m not indignant or offended. But the people who are doing it are still dicks.
1. News travels quick nowadays, with 24 hour news coverage, social media, people having news on tap with their phones etc
2. People years ago (because we're humans) formed opinions on the news they heard, they just didn't hear as much to help them form an opinion on it
3. With social media people have the platform to think before forming an opinion, to record (verbal or written) what their opinions are, and then publish them to the world. This is much easier than having to get into a verbal debate with someone who thinks the opposite and having that ability to 'think on your feet' to avoid looking an arse.
4. Anyone writing their opinions and sending to the world knows darn well that the more controversial their opinion is, the more likely it is to be read. This helps build self-esteem i.e people are interested in what I have to say, as opposed to the risk of having self-esteem knocked out on the losing end of a verbal battle.
I walked to the shops earlier, I saw my neighbour driving his car to the same place. He could've walked and saved the planet. I want to tell the world how terrible that is. Does my neighbour not care about the planet?!
I probably won't say anything to my neighbour, he's bigger than me.
Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!
