Finally got this wrapped up. Well nearly, still a job to do but playing it all the time - black limba Firebird with a hotter 8k ish Filtertron, wenge/purpleheart/sapele/walnut in there. The Fletcher tron is excellent

Sometimes the tron looks like it wants a surround, sometimes not... or is it just me..? might have to offer one up

Very cool, I would leave it as it is, the simplistic design works and lets the feature of the wood take focal point. Who invited the chicken along ?

Baz you're right I think I did offer up a bezel but seems better without.

^ it's a Gretsch-type tone switch, 2 caps & bypass. Depending on clean & what drives and such they lop off top end, or gives a quick flick to cocked wah-type sound, or darker/fatter sound etc. There's a slight overkill tone pot as well, just for a bit of baseline taming if that makes sense.

A clear Gretsch pick-up ring could be a compromise, but chrome would look more firebirdy.
