Squash/cordial recommendations please

What's Hot
So since Ribena was ruined forever and the lovely Belvoir Blueberry and Blackcurrant seems to have vanished from Tesco and Sainsbury's around here, I'm getting a bit bored of Vimto (as nice as it is).

Does anybody here have any good recommendations for ideally Blackcurrant based but any dark fruit based squash that I could seek out to try?

A massive Sainsbury's has opened up nearby but they still do not sell actual Blackcurrants otherwise I'd try to make my own.

I don't want to dip into my stockpile of pre-April 2018 Ribena too early

What've they done to Ribena?  I've not had it in a while.

  • Halved the sugar in it and replaced it with crappy sweeteners and thickener. On the plus side, you do get several free migraines with each bottle

I get M&S Florida Orange High Juice...  Used to get Robinsons High Juice which was the best but they stopped making it. The M&S one is the best ive found since..  Might be worth trying their blackcurrent one (if you have a local M&S).

I agree the M&S orange one is nice but the Blackcurrant one bizarrely resembled the Tesco double concentrate one, I did expect better from M&S

In fairness, I'd be lying if I said I hadn't had that instead

I can highly recommend Belvoir Blueberry and Blackcurrent Cordial.  None of that artificial sweetener crap in it. £2 at the moment in Asda (oops just noticed you mention this... but like I say still for sale in Asd3 )

Yeah that's the one that is no longer sold at any supermarket within a 4 mile radius from me at present :(

Isn't it remarkable how well-mannered the posts are in a cordial thread?

Travel four miles and stock up - buy a 12 month supply?

Alternatively see it as an opportunity - don’t seek a replacement cut it out altogether as it can’t be that good for you when it’s  loaded with sugar etc.

  • I don't think abstinence is better than moderation to be honest, I'm quite capable of managing a balanced diet which is why I was so annoyed at Ribena's decision to decide for me!

If they still have Belvoir in Asda then I shall indeed be trekking to one this week... Boom

  • Currently showing as available and on special (£2 for the 500ml bottle) on the Tesco website.

  • Sainsburys Blackcurrant (double strength) No Added Sugar squash is OK. There's another version (cut with Apple) that's not so good. Comes in square cross-section plastic bottles.

BTW Sainsbury's Lime Cordial is way better then Roses. The latter is mainly sugar and tastes only vaguely of lime.
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

As a parent I’m happy with that decision! I think the drink is primarily aimed at children so it’s only a good thing.

Their Blackcurrant & Apple is my usual vice and every few months I slip into a Sainsburys Orange & Mango habit.
