Noisy amp when I use my Helix

Been messing around using my Helix with a power amp/cab rather than my usual DXR10.  I've tried 2 amps, and Engl Ironball in to the FX return, and a Mooer Baby Bomb and with both running from either the main outs of the Helix or using one of the sends the noise is excessive.  Running an analogue pre-amp in to either (a Fly Rig) it's fine.

Any ideas, would a DI box help?

    Which outputs on the Helix are you using? Are they set to instrument or line level? Is it noise or hum?

    Used both the main 1/4 outs and send 1 using  a send block, will check the levels, hum on the Engl, a noisy whistle on the Mooer

    They were set to line, changed to instrument and the signal decreases but the background noise level stays the same
