I learned just how outrageously and unashamedly overboardly Biassed the BBC are in every news and chatshow/gameshow over Brexit/Trump et al to the point where I can't be listening to any of it even if some of it is valid. Not only that they demand that I fund their political lobbying...

  • I started my new job in May so I’ve been trying to learn a lot of stuff if struggling at times. Much of it is bureaucratic nonsense but I’ve learned or at least been reminded that the opportunity to engage with some genuinely special people is a real privilege.

Although, partly due to the time and stress of the new job, I’ve given up the band so musically sweet FA. However, my son has now got his harmony book for Xmas that was recommended on here so maybe I’ll have a look and become a music theorist in the new year.

Fuck all.  I’ve forgotten loads though, so overall, a net loss.
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.

Technically everything that I learned was in 2018, as I've only been learning to play this year. Thankfully I have yet to learn why people have more than one guitar, definitely nervous about that one.

  • A few things.

guitarwise, Its not really worth the effort.

getting fat is much easier than getting fit

sometimes that job you are clinging onto because you are worried what the future will bring if you change, is actually just a crock of shit with much better employers to be found.

  • I've been shown by a band mate that hard work can take you a very long way. Non player to gigging 60+ songs in two years.

I've also seen that there's something you get from being completely immersed in music that you can't learn in two years.

As soon as you buy your next one, you'll know. And it's downhill all the way from there!

Don't think I've really learnt much this year, maybe that if you only half-arse apply for a job, you didn't really want it anyway?

And that when it comes to prezzies for your other half, handbags and daft t-shirts is always a win :)

This year I discovered that I love highland bagpipes in a folk context. I hope my 16 year old self never reads this.

Mostly that I really don't need or want a Les Paul after all. But I do think I need a Les Paul Jr or Special.

Also that it turns out my wife hasnt actually been shrinking my clothes in the dryer and I need to nip this in the bud before I become a fatty again.

The ratio between the amount of money I spend on gear and the actual time I get to play is way out of whack.

Need to spend less, play more

I've learnt that a seemingly trivial accident can really do a lot of damage.
