I could have gone with many of the 'grown up' or more fashionable releases but I've gone with 'Arbiter' by Hopesfall. Huge-sounding comeback album after they split a decade ago, chock full of lovely dynamics, lead melodies, meandering lyrics and tight drumming. The only complaint is that they don't explore the more expansive, instrumental moments they did on previous albums. But by all accounts, this combines their best stuff and is a heck of a ride from beginning to end. Just a rock solid space rock album.

Probably Fight the Good Fighting The Interrupters as the only album of new material I bought in 2018.

I guess runner up is Socks by J D McPherson which I had on streaming a lot over the Xmas period. Possibly lost it's appeal by January .

I only bought 2 albums in 2018 that were released in 2018

    Black Stone Cherry's Family Tree
    Skindred's Big Tings.

So my AOTY is the Skindred one.

Toss up for me between Slash's Living the Dream and Massive Wagon's Full Nelson.....

However, I think Massive Wagons just about snatch it. Caught them at Download for the first time ever, and they're amazing.

Really pushing the boundaries creatively while remaining loyal to their previous work.

Hard to pick... so maybe two.
The Floyd-like, "Space" from All India Radio

And not really an album so much as a track:
    Yndi Halda, "A Sun-Coloured Shaker"

His (Benji's) interview on the Life in the Stocks Podcast is worth a listen!
