Are eBay combo amps in general OK for postage or do you think it is a no no, in other words, do they travel well?

Packing makes a lot of difference, but bearing in mind amps used to be made for gigging, they are not that fragile. Taking suitable precautions with valves and protecting speaker cones is a given, otherwise How do you think they got from factory/port to shop in the first place.

Indeed. I was always quite surprised at how few damaged valves I saw in gear that had shipped from Korea. None in fact for the first amps, the Artisan series.  The first few Venue models did have a 1 in 50 ish "white" ECC83, still in its holder. The problem then stopped and we never, iirc, found the reason!

Of course! The logical thing would be to ship with the valves out and well protected in Bwrap. The dealer then unpacks and sets up the gear. Problem is few of them can even change a plug these days!

    Dave.
