What sound are you aiming for?

It's for funk, R&B, roots, jazz. Acoustic sound is quite balanced with adequate definition and mids. The American Pro pickups get too muddy when wick'd up .

Look at pure vintage 64s. Won’t cost you a fortune and they really are very good. Should suit what you’re looking for

On looking under the hood of my used Classic 60s Tele, recognising that it sounded better than any Tele I’ve owned , I discovered with some joy, what I take to be (based on website match) a set of Bare Knuckle Flat 50s. Previous owner didn’t even mention them... highly recommended.

They're a little hotter than absolute vintage 50's-country-only Tele pickups, but they're not high output by any means.

If you want slightly lower output the Brown Sugars are also very good - a bit more treble and a bit less bass than the Boss

What height do you have Boss pickups at? Just going to play around with heights of mine this week with a partscaster, want some good twang out of them, so wanted a few reference points to try out.

No idea, but will check when I'm home. I would say "normal" - not super close or low:D

I'll put my hand up for BKP Country Boy's. Very polite and easy on the ear. Nothing spiky or boomy. Sound so clear and beautiful through my Cornell Romany.

Not enough guitars, pedals, and cricket bats.
