soft drink pub recomendations

What's Hot
im finding less and less opportunities to drink alcohol when im playing in pubs or watching bands. I don't like coke/pepsi, lemonade, i find J2O too sweet and sickly,  lime and soda is ok but getting bored. Please recommend me interesting soft drinks please

I tend to switch between lime and soda and blackcurrant and soda.

Some of the alcohol-free beers aren't too bad, but many are low alcohol rather than no alcohol, so beware.

  • not that keen on beer so wouldnt bother with low alcohol beer but blackcurrent and soda sounds worth a try,ta.

  • Low alcohol cider is fine, basically fizzy apple juice but not as sweet as that sounds. I've had the Stowford press one, it's very low alcohol and in the supermarket basically at soft drink prices so I'm assuming cheap in pubs if they have it.

When I was playing in bands I just had pints of water, seemed a reasonable request as a 'worker.' MrsTheWeary usually has lime and soda but I feel too embarrassed to place an order for two lime and sodas so I'd nurse a J2O if going out somewhere.

Tomato juice with a big dollop of Tabasco and some Hendo’s (or Worcestershire Sauce if you’re less fortunate)

Lime and soda seems to be the most variable priced drink.

For a pint I've been charged from 10p (soda free lime 5p a shot) to £6 (soda priced like lemonade lime 50p a shot) which I declined to pay.

Lime and blackcurrant and soda are the only non horrible choices. I just ended up drinking tapwater when I was gigging.

I prefer just soda water.  if pushed, diet tonic can be quite refreshing.....

    Fresh orange and soda.
If the orange isn’t fresh then a bottle each of Britvic grapefruit and orange mixers, made up to a pint with sparkling water.
If all they’ve got is J2O then a pint of tap water instead.

28 years ago I used to have a pint of Mango and lemonade after adult roller disco we used to go to. Probably haven't been in a pub/bar since then.

  • thanks for all the suggestions. when gigging, the band usually ask for pints of iced tap water which im happy to drink, but feel a bit funny about ordering it as a punter, just looking for a bit of variety.

Watch out for some of the low / no alc beers - they seem to be getting more popular

I also find J2O too sweet, so tend to have it in a pint glass topped up with water/soda.

I cant drink J2O either but pour one into a pint glass and top up with soda and you've got yourself a winner, my Dad got me on that one.
