Im just having a dabble with this at the moment...

    https://www.ratesetter.com/invest

My stocks and shares are very fragile, my Investment ISA with Old Mutual Wealth is doing quite well, my premium bond £2k has done zero.

I have an interest in property rental, houses are easy to rent out but hard to sell for the right price at the moment.

Read into all of that what you will

    Ratesetter? Like Funding Circle? p2p?

i wouldn’t do that at the moment with Brexit round the corner, you never know what kind of business will get hit the hardest and I doubt many will flourish with added red tape so I fear the default rates for the loans will go up which will hit your profits.

@RaymondLin - that may well be the case, but I like my investments to be diversified, so Im happy to take the risk on a relatively small amount just to see how it works.

Do you have a better investment suggestion?

I have savings that Im tempted to use to acquire a rental property but Im worried the market is unstable right now
It is....If you have a cash sum to purchase pretty much outright, its a good return on say £100k - £150k, ..if you are considering some type of BTL mortgage and its not via a Ltd company I wouldnt bother.
Prob fall just shirt of outright purchase unless I look geographically distant which is another element of risk.

The point of an index fund is that it is diversified.  You can of course spread it within vanguard, put some in all stock, some in bonds, something in between.

You could buy one of those semi-inflatable boats and run a nightly cross-channel ferry service.
