  • I'll give you 225 for it...It's a fair price as you couldn't even shift it for 250.

I tried the old "I'm 50 quid short" tactic at Sainsbury's check out, I was very kindly escorted out of the front door by 2 burly security guards.

about 16/17 years ago (wow ebay been around that long) i sold a cammera £400+ to a buyer in spain, i accepted paypal( wouldnt do these days).     sent camera off. about a month later the camera came back unopened and unsigned for, no explanation. thinking id got the address wrong i tried contacting the buyer, no  answer.  the funds had been recieved by me, no dispute.  after a year i just relisted the camera and sold it again. can only assume he died or moved or forgot. anyway, i was 400 better off, still waiting for someone to claim it, feel free to have a go anyone :)

I had someone try to short-change me by £40 on an amp, because "he'd brought the right money but had to had to get a taxi to my house and would need another one back to the station", as if he couldn't have allowed for that when he came. So I simply removed the power valves from the amp and told him to buy his own when he got home. Hopefully they cost slightly more than £40.

And another one who mysteriously couldn't find all the money for a guitar I had delivered to his house and asked if it was OK to send me the rest later - leaving me the choice of whether to waste the petrol money by taking it away again, or trust him. I decided to trust him, which proved to be a mistake. But he must have been unaware that it can be a small world, because some time later he left a pedal with a dealer I work for, for a repair... so I told him he could have it back when I got the rest of my money for the guitar. Never heard from him again, so I sold the pedal and made enough to cover it.

What annoys me with eBay is that if you turn international off, people can still bid and win anywhere they like. What’s the point in that! I recently sold some Hi Fi speakers for a UK only auction, buyer in Italy won, I told him to bugger of and stop wasting my time. Then I put UK only in the description when relisted and some guy in Germany won them, told him to piss off and stop waste not my time.
I then referenced three times in the description Uk only and finally got them on thier way. Painful.
