Have these changed much over the last 10 years or so?

I noticed that not so long ago the pedal paint job was a nice shiny sheen and now it is a rough dull number........are the workings just the same..is one more desirable that  the other?

I got one of the early 808s when they first came out. Tried it against a newer one and to me was pretty much the same
