I believe Paul + Dave had similar ideas at the same time about the McCarty - They had the idea for a guitar like D Allman's Life At The Filmore in mind  Initially Dave played a Mc before the DGT came out - The chassis is similar

Great video.....I am a total Grissom fan boy. Seen him with Ely twice, three times with Storyville, twice with Mellencamp, once with Dixie Chicks and then twice solo, have a stack of bootlegs and pretty much every recoding he's played on....I'm sad me lol!
I believe he used his proto McCarty for the Allman Brothers gig, Makes me want another but that wide/fat profile isn't for me. I got to strum his old gold McCarty trem (which was made for Robben Ford and rejected) after a Storyville gig, killer guitar.
