Wondering if anyone has experience installing graphtech string saver saddles on their ABR-1 bridge?

This sort of thing: http://www.graphtech.com/products/brands/string-saver/product-detail/ps-8400-00-string-saver-originals-for-abr-1-(6pcs)?id=2f8efcee-d7d2-4b21-85e5-a699915b99b1

Is notching these mandatory (I don’t have nut files etc).

If leaving un-notched, will string radius be adversely affected (12” Gibson fretboard)?

Thanks

Without notching, tuning to pitch will pull each string into the most direct path between the tailpiece and the nut. The idea is to make your own notches and, hence, achieve the ideal alignment for your instrument.

The radius is determined by where the guide holes are drilled for each saddle afjustment screw. The holes follow a twelve inch radius along the faces of the Tune-o-matic.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

    Thanks guys,I’ve learned something!

I think I’ve always assumed a perfectly straight line of pull is best but I guess depending on the instrument that might mess up string alignment on the fretboard or over polepieces.

whats the ideal implement for notching the saddle?
