I'm selling an absolutely spanking brand new Ampeg PF-20 - all valve bass head that has been described by those who know, as being the closest thing you can get to the legendary B-15N for sensible money.

If you want a dedicated home bass amp with classic tones and an all-valve signal path, this is it

I bought it to dip my toe into the bass pool, but it's not getting used

This amp runs of x2 ECC83s up front and a pair of 6V6s in the power section into either 4 or 8 Ohms (biasing via a port on the back with on-board indicator (not needed to use it, but it's pretty cool by the looks of it))

It has gain, master volume and a Bandaxall tonestack

The amp is in Dorking, Surrey if you want to try it and I have all the original packing to ship

Plus it can be run without a cabinet attached, very useful for recording. Lovely heads these, sounds great with guitar and bass. The strange design is to allow it to be flipped over into an Ampeg cabinet for easy transport. Glws.

Very tempted when these were blown out at £299, that deal has of course ended, still very tempting. Do these actually sound anything like an old Portaflex or are they closer to the PF350/500 etc?

They are much more toneful than the solid state class D jobbies - tried that and didn’t like it

I’ve not played a B15 and spending over 2k on a 60 year old amp isn’t my thing, but If you do a search on Basstalk, you’ll find folks who have direct experience of B-15s finding these very favourably in comparison
