Is this overpriced or is this the going rate for these guitars now???

That guitar is the same as mine I think, except mine is left handed. And in 2008 I bought it 2nd hand for £380.

Overpriced.

The inflation on Japanese LPs and other good quality variants that aren't Gibson is going up far too quickly, because they're being overhyped.

The last time I looked these were around the £900 mark so that seems a bit excessive.

Not saying all Orvilles are better than Gibson’s, but some of the OBGs will give most custom shop Gibsons a run for their money.  On that basis they aren’t that expensive

I guess if you’re comparing it against a US Gibson custom the price is reasonable but for my money id rsther have a Yamaha SG1000

Nuts indeed. That one isn’t even an Orville by Gibson. The ObG’s were close in spec to Gibson’s - nitro finish, USA hardware, pickups and electronics and fret nibs on some models. I’m not convinced the standard Orvilles had that spec.

Mine is a 57 reissue goldtop, long tenon, nibs, nitro etc. It does however have a three piece back.

I love my Orville and will never get rid of it.

All my other guitars have and are on the chopping block.

Shouldn't have sold my ObG 335 59RI. That'll haunt me for years. Unless I get a Gibby CS 335 58 RI of course!

Here is another one, from '93, in Japan that I have been looking at:

I'm always wary of those Japanese listings on eBay - quite often you see lots of different accounts listing the same guitar with the same pictures, all watermarked with the name of a shop that isn't any of those accounts. I've heard tales before of these being people all keeping an eye on a guitar in a shop and selling it on eBay without actually owning it - they wait for the eBay payment, then use that to go and buy it, at which point it might have already gone.
