Wanted to get a view on the order you’d put these pedals in? HX Stomp is obviously at the end of the chain and in my head is there for Reverb, Delay, Modulation, Looper and Ampless play.

Pedals:
Tumnus Deluxe
Prince of Tone
BB Preamp Comp
BigMuff OpAmp
DS1
HX Stomp

How would you order them?

Thanks.

Try them in different combinations and see which order you prefer.

    Probably
    comp
    tumnus as a boost
    hx stomp last for modulation

then your dirt pedals in whatever order between the Tumnus and the Stomp

In this situation there is no point taking advice.

Take an hour switch them around and see what you like.

    This.

Obviously it only makes a difference when you use more than one drive pedal at a time, and then it's personal choice.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

That’s a lot of drive pedals?  Do you really need all of them?  (Stop sniggering at the back, @pmbomb ).

Classically the BB preamp comp would go first followed by the other pedals in descending gain order, with the HX Stomp at the end.

Realistically, I’m assuming that you don’t actually turn them all on at once to create a glorious chaotic mush with howling feedback. You’re  best off identifying those which you actually use together (which are hopefully limited) and testing those configurations in different orders to see what a) gives the best sound and b) creates the lowest noise levels.

The DS1 and Big Muff will probably remain being used on their own. They are very specific sounds, different from the others. I could just as easily take them off, but why not have them on there for when wanted. I see the Tumnus being on all the time.

main criteria for venues we play is "will @Cols pedalboard fit?".

Usual order is comp then drive pedals going up in order of filth, but there’s no reason not to play around with the order and just see what sounds best.

I don’t think 5 different sounding drives is excessive, I’ve got 4 and still haven’t got all the bases covered.  :)

You're missing a fuzz face and a tonebender from that line-up.

Not to make things more complicated but doesn't HX stomp have a loop on it, the placement of which is configurable?

    So you can either
    i) put your comp and drives before the input or
ii) put them in the loop of the HX stomp, with the loop to be configured at the start of the signal chain.

That latter approach could be more flexible as I guess you might be able to configure where the loop appears within each preset on the stomp. You may lose one of the precious 6 block in doing so though.
