Refinishing maple cap

so I own these two beautiful sons of bitches. One of them I've had for a long time and it's picked up some dents and heavy pick marks on the top. I was pondering about getting them removed and potentially a coloured refinish. As there's not much flame or figuring (is that the right word) on them, I'm not sure if it would show off its wood to its maximum. I guess this is a question for @FelineGuitars and maybe the wudtone guy (if he wasn't banned/in the cooler)
