NPD: Operation Overlord - Allied Overdrive

I'd tried this pedal out, a few weeks ago, when I got my Blackstar LT Dual.
At the time, I was looking for a pedal that could do a really saturated, heavy overdrive.
The EHX O.O. was not that pedal but I had been impressed with it's sounds and hoped to pick one up, later.
Well I got one today.
This is an overdrive with a lot of controls and 2 footswitches.
So you need to grasp what these controls do and how to mix and match everything.
It's fairly conventional though, with Volume, Gain, Bass, Middle and Treble.
But on top of that, you have a Boost level knob and probably most importantly, a Dry/Effect balance knob.
This can give some great transparency to your sound.
And a 3-way switch for hi, lo & normal input level.
So, there's a lot to work with here.
I originally got this for a punkish, brutal overdrive I'd got in the shop.
But when getting it home, I managed to get a low gain, valve warmth sound by balancing the gain and dry signals.
This is probably the first pedal I have managed to achieve this sound with, in such a convincing manner.
And I've also found that this pedal works well with my Blackstar LT Dual.
I have the LT set up for 2 sounds.  Full on heavy and mild crunch.
Both of these work rather nicely with the EHX's overdrive and boost effects.
Super cool.
When I'd tried this out before, I'd been playing a Duesenberg Starplayer.
At home, I am using my Suhr.
It all sounds rather different but I am pleased to report that the Operation Overlord really works well with single coil pickups, as well as humbuckers.
