SORTED: Atkin OM37 or 00 or Avalon Cedar Rosewood

Looking for either an Avalon with Cedar top and rosewood back and sides. Small, Auditoriam or possibly a Jumbo. Or maybe an Atkin OM or OO with rosewood back and sides. No cutaways and don’t need a pickup.

Not selling but I have one and it’s absolutely amazing, I used it at a studio the other day and the engineer couldn’t believe his ears. Good luck with your search.

have a LG47 and love it but now fancy a OM to go with it. Was lovely. Pissed on the Martin OM too.

Tried both normal headstock versions (mahogany and rosewood versions), but didn’t bother with the slotted head one.

Were they aged versions?

Personally preferred the rosewood, but I have a LG47 so felt the rosewood version did what I wanted and had diferant quality’s from my LG. didn’t try the slot head as I’m not a big fan when it comes to re-stringing them. They were all the NOS finish with no ageing. I think I’d have preferred the aged finish as it’s not so stressful when they get a mark on them.

Obviously the LG was nothing like the mahogany OM, but the rosewood one had the tone I was after if that makes sense

I tried it against a rosewood Martin OM and it was alive in comparison. I think I preferred the Martin neck though

Updated what I’m looking for. Tried an Avalon yesterday that was really nice. Fancy Cedar / rosewood on an Avalon.

Maybe a visit to Glenn would be a good idea? He always has a great selection and I always leave with something other than what i’d gone to try!

Hahah. I went the other day for the Millman, almost came home with a Santa Cruz, and a vintage Martin. Tried the Avalon’s there for the first time and really fancy one now. I left empty handed for the first time! If a cedar doesn’t come up I’ll have to visit his again.

Thanks mate. It is lovely but not a big fan of cut aways. it’s also waaay to far away to try out. If you were closer I’d be taking a look at your robin Thompson (I wouldn’t have a clue what to expect from all Blackwood).
