I reckon it's been damaged and they've tried to blend it in (and failed).

    I think you're being unfair.

I have often had the misfortune of playing in my bedroom and beaten it to a sorry state not dissimilar to that.

    That poor guitar.
I would love to change my username, but I fully understand the T&C's (it was an old band nickname). So please feel free to call me Dave.

That’s a shame, it was a nice guitar.

A customer of mine recently bought a Les Paul Junior that’s been vandalised in the same sort of way, apparently with a penknife and a cigarette lighter - I thought that was bad, but this is worse... the damage looks like it goes quite deeply into the wood so a simple refinish isn’t even an option.

The guitar should be cool - get it for say £600/650 and get a seriously cool refin on it and it should be fine

But as it stands it looks bad

In my experience, Gas Station Guitars rarely underprice anything... ;)

Assuming this was a DIY relic job, there must have been a point where the person who did it thought "this isn't going as well as I had hoped", but was too late to reverse.

If you are going to use the tool box, always make sure there is a grown-up around.

Reminds me of that Father Ted episode with the car. The guitar probably had one tiny little scratch and the owner 'I'll just buff that out"  .....
