I know a few people have commented but had a great time at the Christies show today.

If anyone isn't sure about going - do, it's really well put on - you are very close to all the instruments, there's well written descriptions of them all and some nice audio/video installations.

Pictures to follow, there's a few things I'll bid on - no chance of winning the prices will go sky high, even though he's ruined them with refrets, tuner changes, bridge changes etc - he's obviously no idea of guitars

There are some lovely things to drool over there, some are quite interesting - the Wall Goldtop for example, has checking on that if it was a copy you'd swear was off.

There's even a black strat you can hold and have a picture with

Just had a gander at the virtual tour. Some very very nice stuff there. I'd kill for that '59 Jazzmaster... oh, and the '53 Bigsby LP, and and and...

It makes me wonder what he's keeping. Obviously the sunburst Tele, he's mentioned that. There's a late '40s/early '50s Gibson J45 that's not in the sale (I once played it, it's killer). He's donated the white Jedson steel but not the red one, also the Rickenbacker Frying Pan hasn't shown up. The Bill Lewis guitar, I'd have thought he'd let go of that, but no.

Bit stingy with the amps, isn't he, just a few odd Fenders. Can't blame him

Thanks - took a while!

I took a lot of close in pictures, really for reference since it's not often you get to take close pictures of guitars where the history is well known.

There's a few I'll bid on, but I know I won't win - the estimates are all at least 1/10 of the final price by my reckoning

Probably wouldn't even look twice at the black strat if I saw it in a shop. Looks a right piece of crap haha.
