The MXR Tap Tempo switch DOES work properly with the Boss ES5

Just letting you know. Grumble grumble.

It performs the 'tap' on switch up, not switch down. Which is bloody annoying. 

EDIT: So after having it a week in an envelope to send back, I just decided to keep it. And yes, if you invert the polarity on the ES5. It works fine.

Nope, don't think so.

Menu -> Others -> Pol C1 / Pol C2

Pretty sure that'll fix it.

You probably already know,  but just in case, there are dip switches inside the MXR that can configure it 3 different ways.

I am a compulsive reader of manuals. 

Seriously. I have pdfs of the manuals for all my complex pedals saved on my phone. It's one of the ways I'm special and unique.
