What's Hot

Hi. Looking for some neck shims to try on my Strat. Preferably full neck pocket tapered ones but open to anything. Wondered if if anybody had some going spare before buying any.

Cheers,

Dan

you may have to make it yourself. its a raging debate whether partial shims are better than full neck ones.

let me know if you manage to source any

Yeah I've seen some partial brass ones on ebay and the stewmac ones are a bit too steep. I experimented with a playling card and pick and now not entirely sure it actually needs shimming. Just feels stiff to play for some reason and I've played around with everything else set up wise  :s

I've used bits of cornflake packets for years. Rock n roll.

Wouldn't dream of buying something made for the purpose.

I use folded sand paper or wet n dry.

Grips the pocket a little then too.

My shim of choice is self adhesive glass paper, doesn’t slip and grips perfectly

    I have four Stewmac shims
    - one 1°
    - two 0.5°
    - one 0.25°

I've got one partscaster on the go - once I've put it together, I'll know which ones will be spare - if you have the time to wait...
