More interesting than anything Malmsteen has done in a long time.

So it made of metal, it wont smash, but might bend. Its basically a sledge hammer, and the cabs were empty. I bet the strings would snap though. Not sure what use that is..........but shows steel and titanium are great materials!
    Karma......

I supplied the electronics for this guitar. Sandvik commissioned Drewman Guitars in Wiltshire to make it.
For the first order, I sent 3 "Yngwei" harnesses (essentially his custom model strat wiring with 3 way switches) and then Andy from Drewman flew over to Sweden with a suitacase full of prewired kits, pickups, hardware, all sorts.

Drewman guitars rang about a month later to say "thanks for the kits, I need 2 more as they have been smashed to bits!".  They built 3 guitars just to see if they would pass the smash test.

    Below is the insides.

no idea, but judging by the way he is wielding it, not so heavy.

I'd find a way to smash it if it would make him stop his racket.

With this and his recent 'blues' project he really has become a parody - if he hadn't many years previously.

    omg he looks terrible now

who wants to tell him the leather isn't working anymore?
interesting design but what's the point... if you don't want to smash your guitar, don't

Fake - or at least partly faked. The jack plug would break off if it got hit during that sort of abuse. In fact, if you look at about 1'06" you can see that it isn't in the guitar.

If they'd used a Neutrik right-angle plug I could just about believe it. Even Neutrik straight ones aren't strong enough to survive under all conditions though - I had one break on stage many years ago...

    ...drummer stood on it.

I think that the guitar looks pretty cool (better with humbuckers though), but smashing guitars is such a juvenile thing to do. What a man-child.

The Sandvik U.K. office is about 5 minutes walk from my house, who knew what went on in there.

Very fake.  The amps and cabs are props and the "concert" footage is pieced together from a number of takes.  Not unreasonably, as the guitar would've bounced around all over the place in a very un-cinematic manner.

None of which really matters, since the aim is to demonstrate their 3D printing and metal cutting technology.  If they were actually trying to market an unbreakable guitar you'd want to see something a bit more scientific.

I'd actually be far more interested to know if the guitar plays well and sounds good than if a twat can't smash it.
