I've been using Simon Jones for several years. He's based in Portsmouth. Done some excellent repair work for me.

Kouga Guitars in Gosport. Andy Wheeler and his son are a great team and really give a lot of care and attention to the work they do. 

They do everything from set ups, re-frets, repairs and custom paint to building custom guitars. The prices are also really reasonable.

I used Simon for some work on my Eggle acoustic. Lovely guy but he had it for months, I was genuinely starting to worry if I was ever going to see it again. I think he's probably quicker in the winter when the beach isn't calling!

Simon Bailey. Used him for a fret dress on a Jazzmaster and a setup on an acoustic. Both were quick and he did a decent job. Also guaranteed a bone nut against breakage as he had to cut it to fit over the binding and they occasionally snap due to this. Not anything he can do something about and not really his responsibility so very fair.

He also had a 62 Strat on his bench while I was in there so I guess he's well trusted!

My recommendation would also be Joe White. And I would personally avoid Hayward’s Guitars in Winchester. Ok for more simple stuff but I wouldn’t get a re-fret done there.

Indeed, I've not been massively impressed by Hayward's either.

First off, check that a decent level and fret dress won’t suffice, it takes a lot for a guitar to actually need a refret

If you have specific preferences regarding setup, such as neck relief, and they differ from his, be prepared to have to have a debate about it which may or may not include him getting out his Dan Erlewine repair book and showing you you’re wrong.

Not quite Hampshire but Robin at Absolute did a great job for me.

Cant grumble. Well priced , turned it around in a week and wasnt overly critical of my soldering!
