NGD My First Les Paul Standard!

Hey guys, 

So I've always wanted an LP Standard from new... a keeper! But I've never quite been able to scrounge enough money together before buying something else, because of this i've usually settled for Studios or second hand traditionals. In fact I picked up an LP Studio elite in Silverburst not to long ago!

Well GuitarGuitar are having a massive Gibson sale at the moment, I assume as part of the 'new Gibson' switching the line up... anyway... the discounts are incredible and if you like the newer, modern, dip switch of doom laden Gibsons I highly suggest you have a look at what's on offer! 

I picked up this beautiful Gibson Les Paul Standard High Performance 2 in Hot Pink Fade for £1499! Which is insane when you think the RRP is double that! 

I love Les Pauls but i'm also not much of a traditionalist. I love funky colours in particular and this really pulled me in. It's much more of a cherry around the edge and into the fade. Because this is the HP2 its also got the locking tuners and rich lite fretboard. 

It even arrived in tune!

It has DIP switches but I'll probably never use them. 

The only thing Im not sure on is the bling control knobs, I might switch these out for clear ones in the future. 

The new Gibson Cases are also pretty cool! Carbon fibre effect.

£1499 eh? Hmmm... I hope you hate the guitar and it never stays in tune.

Something I've often wondered about as well, why some bridges are angled and others straight.

This was the cheapest one they had, just happened to be the colour I wanted, but they are knocking the Mojave, Cobalt and Blood orange bursts out for around £1650- £1800.

And the SG's for £1300. (I tried to convince the Mrs I needed an SG as well but she wasn't having it, apparently I should be saving for our wedding...)

I like the colour too. Also the no-pickup-ring look. I much prefer the HP models.

I hate to say this is what I did the night before the wedding, however getting offered a players grade 1965 SG for £900 was too good to turn down!
