OK folks.. what pickups is Ty using here?

Just checking out some old King's X videos and noticed these squared-off single coil size pickups on Ty's guitar.

Close up on the solo at 1:57.

I've never seen these before, anyone know what they might be?

Some sort of early stacked humbucker perhaps?

They were just the stock pickups on that Fender Elite Strat.  I think he painted them black and the paint wore off again.
