Blues Jr IV - less prone to circuit noise?

I had a V2 a while back which would have been a perfect home pedal platform were it not for the intrusive background buzz which crept in over about half an hour as the amp warmed up. Doing the 240v transformer tap and getting a service with some re-soldering helped slightly but the buzz even at zero volume was still clearly audible outside the room.
Occasionally I wonder if I should have hung onto it and persevered in the hope it was something that could eventually be tracked down, although a trawl of various web pages suggested that some of them were/are just inherently noisy and that was that. 
Anyone had any experience with the latest one?
