Help identifying a pickup please.

Hi, I got a Fender Custom Shop pickup in a pick guard & want to know if there is a way of identifying it. Resistance is 6.17 & there is a pink paint mark on the underside of the B string pole.

I’ll say it before anyone else does: “photos would help”

Can't upload pics from my phone, but there is nothing remotely unusual by way of identifying marks, it just looks like a nicely made pickup, with a Custom Shop sticker on the bottom.

The identity of Fender Custom Shop pickups can be narrowed down to some extent by the colour of the lower fibreboard plate, the colour of the insulation on the copper wire and the lengths of the rod magnets.

Some photographs of Fender C.S. Custom 54 pickups illustrate them with a crimson red dot on the magnet.

6.1k rings no bells from the published specifications but it is near enough to be a Custom '54 that is in circuit.

You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.
