Along with those emails offering sex wealth and stamina the Gardner Houlgate one popped up with the link to the catalogue and I must say this one is very uninspiring except for one piece which has got me crossing fingers that nothing drops off a car between now and June

Lots of interesting/good/not so good stuff here including a Triggs, Gibsons and Fenders, some excellent classicals, a good selection of Yamaha FGs -wish I had some money - and (puts on flak suit, helmet, jumps into APC) the usual crap Hofners.

Yes I once owned a Hofner Senator.

Don't forget prices have 20% fees added, plus 5% if bidding online, plus VAT.

Not quite estimate approximately 20% added to hammer price is what you pay if you attend

Indeed. Although, it's 4.95% for bidding online not 5%. Yet there's also a 2.5% fee for registering. Consider yourself gouged to the max.

Fair comment but consider that most pieces go for well under what you might expect to pay for them in a shop or privately if you can actually find them, it’s a you pays your money you takes your choice. If you want to not participate for this reason that’s great as it’s less in the pool to bump up prices simple.

lets also not forget the cost to GH of putting on cataloging administering staff etc so they have to make money somewhere.

    Makes eBay look good

  • Most things seem to go for ebay sale price, if not retail, but then you've got to add fees in.

Ive watched but never bought anything.
Seen the occaisional lucky buyer but anything decent generally goes for way too much.

Amazing - 25% sellers fees plus 25% buyers fee (approx). So 50% fees - so the winner is def the auction house!!
