As title, I have a dark back 70's tribute Les Paul and find the neck a bit sticky, would wire wool be the best bet or fine grit sandpaper please?
Tomorrow will be a good day.

French Chalk your hand prior to playing. Less intrusive!

I used very fine wire wool on my Epiphone just to take the gloss off and it improved it no end. Make sure you mask tape up the pickups otherwise you'll get little bits of the wire wool stuck to them.

If you don't want to take an abrasive to it, a bit of guitar polish will take the stickiness away.

I think a certain type of scotchbrite is the way to go.
Someone will be able to tell you which type
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

If we are not ashamed to think it, we should not be ashamed to say it.

Talcum powder. It gets everywhere, but it works, and it’s easy to buy. (Gratuitous picture of my pedal board)

A green scouring pad works well, a light scrub with that and your good to go.
Less abrasive than wire wool and no need to mask anything off.
Just polish out to put it back to stock again
