Talk me out of "investing" £79 in Komplete Select

What's Hot
NI emailed me a discount code giving me half price on Komplete Select which makes it £79

https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/bundles/komplete-12-select/

Is this worth buying if I'm after something to fiddle around with?   Does anybody have any experience of it?   I  would be using it alongside Ableton Live.

I  suppose partly I am hoping it will offer a lower cost upgrade path to the more costly versions of Komplete...

Is that half price off a new komplete select or can u use it with a crossgrade/upgrade from the free drum mica?

I quite like select (I'm using select 11). I've been using it alongside ableton live suite and get alot of use out of it.. I regularly use the following:

    Gentleman (upright piano)
    Rhodes emulation
    Organ emulation
    Massive (synth)
    Monark (mono moog emulation)
Drum lab (an ok drum plugin)

All depends on whether it has the sounds u want.

Thank you @Branshen - it's half price off a new Komplete Select.

You haven't been tempted to upgrade to 12 or to the next level up of Komplete?  Is it just the cost that stops you?

    That's still a good price.

I don't think select 12 has anything that I want to justify the upgrade. I have recently been thinking about the full version of komplete, but I reckon I will hold off as Select is the best value package for me, considering how much of select I use, whereas komplete would be nice but underutilised.

Also, I'm inclined to put my money towards specific specialised plugins that I will really put to good use, E.g. I recently got spitfire audio's studio strings.

What sounds do you want? If select has a good number of things you will use, it is good value!

I was tempted by the offer, but the site wouldnt accept my discount code anyway, so I have cooled off now, 45 gig libraries dont belong on my system anyway. I'll stick to Labs for now.

Thank you for this - theoretically I can get the standard version of Komplete 12 for £238 (£79 + £159) instead of £479.  Your point being that I need to ask myself whether I actually need it :s

@revsorg I'll say yes because I am weak Currently trying to buying Komplete Select 11 for cheaps on KVR and then upgrade to K12 during the summer sale. Extra cash coming in from work in the next few months so this seems like a prime time to do it.

I wish they'd release Massive X then I'd know whether to just buy that upgrade from Massive, which is all I want; or whether it will be more cost effective to update my version of Komplete 11 to get Massive X
    It's not a competition.

Where do you find the time to go through all the presets? Shame it doesn’t have the full version of Kontakt.

I've found that with the standard version of Ableton Live - I feel like I've listened to a million sounds and barely scraped the surface.
