    Piece of cake to string

Want to see how easy it is?

All you need to do is this - bend the string round the end of your thumb first.

I love the subtlety of the trem you get with a bigsby. Its so different to the standard tremolo bars.

I thought that a Bigsby IS the standard vibrato?

Ubiquitous was a better word in that they are rarer than say the strat trem system.   I'd agree with you at the same time. =)

I would have thought they were good additions to SGs given their weight at that end, to counteract neck dive ?

Didn't make the slightest difference to my SG (I fixed the neck dive by moving the rear strap button in the end). A Bigsby isn't that heavy, it just looks it...

My most modded guitar with most modded Bigsby. https://imgur.com/a/r67UiZ7

Gretsch G Love Corvette with TV Jones Supertrons, metal LSR roller nut, upgrade wiring & pots, locking Grovers, Tru Arc Serpentune solid bar bridge, upgraded Bigsby B50 with BricksBigsFix Tuning Stabiliser, and @Corvus upgrade Bigsby arm (freakin awesome arm), and BricksBigsFix Squishy spring.

I love this guitar, I used to hate the Bigsby on it, but now it’s spectacular. Of all the mods, the one that impressed me the most was the @Corvus arm. It’s a weighty piece of machined steel, but it’s the perfect length - getting the arm closer to the neck pickup (where I like it), it doesn’t flex like the tin foil arm that came with the guitar, Most impressively, the combination of length, weight, and stiffness have a hugely complementary effect on the Bigsby - the lightest of touches gives the perfect Bigsby Wobble. Where the stock unit was stiff and terrible (I had to ram the guitar into my hip to get the B50 to wobble (then go out of tune), now it’s soft, delicate in use, and excellent in every way. It’s on par with the best B6 Bigsbys.

Fantastic work @Corvus, let me know when you’re up and running again, would love to buy another.

I have one on a Tele, I really like it. I took time and effort to improve tuning stability as it was a bit hit & miss at first. They aren't my fave trem unit, but on the right guitar they look so cool.
What tele do you have @axisus ? I ask because it was a tele with a bigsby that I saw recently that made me post this thread
It's my self-built tele (now with middle SC pickup as well)

    Sheeiit - that looks gooood!!

^ that kind of thing's ideal; no tension bar, ideal bridge, straight-ish string run through the nut.

@Marlin cheers, doubt I'll be making any more unless I get me a small lathe. Arms are easy, making the tips on a pillar drill is v.slow and hit & miss

Have you still got the white Corvette? Loved that ... quite fancy making one a bit like Mr Reuben's super cool white & pink one, vid link
