Can it be used with an FX loop amp?

Say, loops 1-4 controlling front end pedals, but the other loops being in the FX loop of the amp?

Does it have a send and return that can be used like that?

Yes I'm pretty sure it's labelled "volume loop" and that's how I had mine set up when I had one, and that's what sold the ES-8 to me over the ES-5

You can use any of the loops to do a send/return but most people use the volume loop which is what is used in the examples in the manual. The loop can be positioned anywhere in your signal chain. It's an amazing gadget.

It's a shame Boss didn't build a tuner into the ES-8.

Would have saved a another space on a board.

No rush. The entire pedalboard is just packed away at the moment so it's not going anywhere until I decide to start parting it out.
