gig bag width issue

What's Hot

I'm trying to find a gig bag for my headless guitar. Thomann sell a cheap one, but it says that the max width is 31cm and my guitar is 32cm. I'm thinking that I can probably squeeze it in - or is that a bad idea? It's only to keep it at home and stop the kids and wife from bashing it.

Headless gig bags - not many options about!

sure you could get one custom made, to your own specs, perhaps with your name embroidered too, gotta be options out there, have you tried the internet?

Sounds like your guitar home life is interesting  :)
If it's just for basic protection, have you thought of getting an acoustic bag?
They'll be very affordable, more than wide enough, even though maybe a tad long  ;)

What is it about this headless guitar that the wife and kids hate so much?

5 adults and a teen in a 3 bed semi detached house. Soon to be 6 adults a teen and a baby!

I hate the thought of a floppy end, or indeed a gig bag that's too long for purpose. Maybe I'll just buy it, it's pretty cheap

This won't help for your guitar, but a friend of mine used to carry a cricket-bat headless bass in a gun bag... until that stopped being a good idea in public.

    Bad idea.

A really tight fit will almost certainly bring the teeth of the zip into firm contact with the finish of the instrument.

The aluminium case for my Chapman Stick looks as if ought to contain a tear gas grenade or cartridge launcher

You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

You need to plane 5mm off each side of your guitar.

Or 10mm off one side will probably do the trick.

I presume that I bought that green one off of you then? I forget who it came from now! Actually it isn't that one. I dismantled it but then got into building my own guitars. I have made something similar size to that one though - any specific Ritter bag that you are thinking of?

It is more of a Spirit shape than a cricket bat guitar

Yes you had the green one for parts, glad it went to a good home. I just carried it about in a standard electric Ritter bag you know the purple one,the one where you load it from the bottom,

Order it and send it back if it doesn’t work. Manufacturers sizes on gig bags are not that accurate as it’s a 3D shape.

Put the family in bags. Not body bags or anything sinister, just like big inflatable balls.

That way everything is protected, including the risk of more of them.
The only easy day, was yesterday...
