PCB software recommendations

Been kit building for ages, have recently finished a bunch of veroboard builds, and now have something breadboarded that I'd like to take to the next level.  Never tried PCB layout/design, so am looking for something fairly intuitive and free (if possible) or cheap.

So, any recommendations from the pedal guys out there?

Oh yeah, and totally happy with either Windows or Linux, so suggest away!

Diptrace. Bit of a learning curve but they have a freeware version that's good up to 300 pins. Should cover most effects pedals.

I use DesignSpark which may not be the best available but it is free.

Diptrace has a free version, and if you ask nicely, they'll increase the pin/layer limit provided it's for non-profit use.

It does involve a bit of learning, and the component libraries aren't the easiest to find things in, although I've not tried the latest versions, so they may have been improved in the past year or so.
Certainly all PCBs I've had produced, I've designed using Diptrace.

Eagle is another option with a free version.

There are quite a few pedal part libraries availablet for it too.
