Replacement strat pickguards

Hi guys,

I'm changing the bridge lace sensor single coil on my Strat Plus to a humbucker and need to get a replacement pickguard.

There are lots of cheaper third party ones on eBay but I'm concerned about the quality (or lack of). Official Fender ones are more expensive and I don't know if it's worth shelling out for a Fender one or if a third party one from eBay will be just as good.

Anybody got any experiences with this?

cheers!

3rd party are just fine. Often better.

Third party varies from the cheapest sheet of plastic cut into the right shape to higher quality ones but the price varies with it from a couple of quid up to the same price as Fender branded.

I always use WDMusic if I'm not buying a Fender one and I like that you can give instructions (only cut out 2 potentiometer holes etc.) but they are as expensive as Fender.

Ultimately though it's just a bit of plastic that screws on and doesn't do anything so as long as it looks good to you and the holes all line up right then it can't really get any better.

I've had good ones from Axesrus or Axecaster

Strats and Teles are easier to get right than say, a Jaguar, or Jazz Bass, so the risk that it won’t fit is quite low. There are a couple of decent ebay sellers (earlpilanz, and something like World Guitars from Birmingham?) with good selections. The biggest risk might be the colour - mint green tends to be too green for instance.

As long as it fits a cheap one is unlikely to affect the sound.
It's just a piece of plastic.
