Matching headstock re-finish (Strat)

What's Hot
Just acquired a cheapo Squier Strat in a particularly unusual purple finish.

I'd like to hae a go at modding it and attempting to finish the headstock as a clour natch to the shade of the body like the 60s pre CBS Strats.

has anyone got any tips for doing this

Easy enough enough to do, dismantle, sand the logo off with 1K Wet n Dry, go to your local car paint supplier, not Halfords and ask them to mix you an Aerosol in colour match (take the body with you) in Cellulose, mask the headstock and spray away until you are happy, no need for primer or lacquer  unless applying another logo...if you need clear lacquer for the logo ask at the same time as getting the paint for compatible lacquer, spray the first couple of coats of lacquer very lightly then build up until happy......should be about a tenner a can...lots of light coats, don't lather it on...
